During the 1970s–early 1990s era, Louis Vuitton authorized U.S. production of certain handbags to serve the growing American market; period court records confirm that Vuitton handbags were being produced by licensed U.S. manufacturers. 

French Company Speedys are particularly interesting to vintage collectors because their construction differs from traditional French-made Speedys. This example retains its interior “Manufactured in the U.S.A. under special license” Louis Vuitton label, along with a Talon zipper and distinctive side locking hardware associated with these vintage editions.
